Legendary manager and producer George Shapiro joins Adam to talk George's new documentary If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast. Adam and George chat about the spark of talent that very few have and the work it requires to light that spark. They then chat about the differences between the academic and business world compared to the creative. They then talk about George's life in the Bronx and P.S. 80, the public school that birthed legends like Howard West, Gary Marshall and George himself. Finally, George and Adam talk about the necessary steps to embrace sadness and how that is one of the keys to a happy life.

Alan Alda join's Adam for this week's Take a Knee and they kick off the episode by chatting about the tenants of improv being the foundational elements of effective communication. They then discuss what it means to listen and how leaving yourself open to change is key in interacting with people in everyday life. Alan then talks about how his time hosting Scientific American Frontiers and his time at the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science formed his desire to write his new book, If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look on My Face. Adam asks Alan about his days on M*A*S*H and his work with Woody Allen and they close the episode chatting about Alan's mother's mental illness as well as mastering gardening.
